Alaminos and Marikina Signs Sister-City Alliance

The City of Alaminos is now officially a sister city of Marikina City. This was made possible by the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) of Sister City Alliance by Alaminos City Mayor Hernani Braganza Marikina City Mayor Ma. Lourdes Fernando and some of their respective city government officials as witnesses, on the morning of October 21, 2005 at the Kap. Moy Bldg, Bulwagan ng Bayani, Marikina City. The Alaminos LGU was warmly greeted and treated to a general orientation of Marikina City by Mr. Jun Aguilar, the Marikina City Planning and Development Officer.
The “Marikina Today” presentation showed the different positive changes in the city’s physical, social, peace & order and economic situation. Aiming to be the country’s little Singapore, the city began formulating dynamic and innovative ideas that eventually became programs for Physical Reconstruction, Social Reorientation, Moral Reformation and Effective Governance for the people. Ordinances were also guided by the city’s vision and just like the different programs mentioned, they are implemented with discipline, good taste and excellence. Policies such as Speak English, a 24/7 emergency and rescue response team and privilege cards for prompt and honest taxpayer are only a few of the creative ideas that encouraged the people of Marikina to participate fully to the realization of their city’s dream.
The official signing of the MOA of Sister City Alliance by Alaminos City Mayor Hernani Braganza and Marikina City Mayor Ma.Lourdes C. Fernando and their respective city official as witnesses, followed the presentation. The program ended with the speech of the chief government executives of both cities, promising full support and cooperation to each other and the signing of the Sister City Alliance covenant, which would strengthen the ties of and the exchange of knowledge, technology and expertise between the two cities.
The party, divided in nine groups, then proceeded to their assigned site/program visits at the following: Marikina River Park, Marikina Sports Center, Public Service Center, Public Safety Center, Personnel Office, Marikina Investment & Tourism Promotion Office, SK Affairs/Teen Headquarters, Waste Management Office, Animal Protection & Control Office, Agora (Engineering, MLTO, Fabrication Office, & Central Warehouse), Shoe Museum, Doll Museum, City Budget Office and Barangay Marikina Heights, accompanied by Marikina City employees. The tour ended at the City Hall where all groups reassembled, ready for the trip to Tagaytay, Cavite for the Team Building Activity.
