FVR launch 2007 Rediscover Alaminos, Hundred Islands…Hundred Reasons

Alaminos City’s readiness in realizing its vision for sustainable development is best expressed during the recent launching of the Rediscover Alaminos…Hundred Islands…Hundred Reasons program.

No less than former President Fidel V. Ramos helping his nephew, Mayor Hernani A. Braganza, opened the city’s doors to more tourists and potential partners for tourism related ventures and investment yesterday at Rockwell Power Plant, Makati City.

Ramos, the affair’s Guest of Honor and speaker, called on the group of investors, corporations, foreign dignitaries and prominent figures in the country who were present on the said launching, to forge new and lasting partnership with the city government.

He encouraged investors to pour in their fortunes and investments in Alaminos and help make the city the next investment hub in the country.

The Pangasinan’s prized son stressed that “it’s about time that we show the beauty the beauty and the wonders of the Philippines and help rebuild our economy”.

Ramos noted that Alaminos’ proximity to bustling cities and hottest investment sites in Asia like China and its easy access to Canada and western United States, thanks to its strategic geographic location, is its greatest advantage.

Another major plus, according to the former president, is that the fast emerging growth node and ultimate tourist destination in the Northern Luzon lies on the center of two greatest oceans of commerce now in the 21st century and the western Pacific where 50 percent of the world trade now takes place.

The city is indeed ready for business after Mayor Braganza fruitfully advanced Alaminians wish to regain control and supervision to the first declared national park and succeeded in sharing his noble goals for the city to his constituents,” Ramos said.

Let us all join hands and help each other to show to the world what the country can offer to them. Through the dynamic leadership of Mayor Hernani A. Braganza will help us realize our dreams of having a fast and progressive Alaminos City.”

The city has earlier tapped the expertise of FF Cruz for the city’s orthophotography and Palafox & Associates for the long term Alaminos City Development Master Plan which was later unveiled late in the evening.

Slide presentation of Alaminos City Orthophotography was presented by Engr. Virgilio Santos of FF Cruz, Inc.  while, Architect Felino Palafox Jr. showed the grand design of the city in the next 15-20 years.

Palafox, world-renowned urban planner, stressed that compared to other places “there is so much development potential in the Alaminos that we can take advantage of”.

He said while other cities of the world like Dubai are spending enormous sums to reclaim and build islands out of the sea, the city has more than 100 islands to offer and could immediately develop.

Palafox Associates is the only architectural firm from the Philippines to make it to the list of the world’s top firms as compiled by the Building Design World Architecture.

The company is determined to build a new Atlantis out Alaminos City, the centerpiece among the future development programs of the city government.

In his welcome remarks, Mayor Braganza extended his invitation to all in joining the city in its great journey to create the New Atlantis, a Green City.

The Mayor expressed his elation for the golden opportunity on sharing the Alaminians’ dream, citing that his constituents have collective vision of transforming Alaminos into a metropolitan global city and has long aspired for progress and now is the time put all together those dreams into one cohesive plan.

Braganza was equally excited on the fact that Alaminos along with  Baguio City and Quezon City may soon have something in common- having master planned by experts.

Baguio, the country’s summer capital and Quezon City, the richest city, were planned by American urban planning giant Daniel Hudson Burnham way back in the early years of the American era.
