Alaminian kids celebrate 15th Children''s Month

Close to one thousand school children from the city’s 39 barangays here trooped at the Don Leopoldo Sison Auditorium (DLSA) for this year’s celebration of the 15th National Children’s Month held last October 31.

 

The affair was spearheaded anew by the City Social Welfare and Development Office and the City Day Care Teachers Association.

Guided by their parents and daycare teachers, these bubbly preschoolers joined the early morning parade along the city’s central business that ended at DLSA for the culminating program.

Each day care center has their respective muses and consorts and costumes which were later presented during the formal program graced by City Administrator Wilmer S. Panabang.

Speaking in behalf of City Mayor Hernani A. Braganza, the affair’s guest speaker, Panabang expounded this year’s theme “Bright Child: Karapatan Na Sa Iyo, Isigaw sa Mundo. "

 

Panabang stressed that children are gift from God and the future of each nation.

“Hence, we as parents, our teachers and the government must shower them with all the love, care, support and protection that they deserve.”

 

Panabang said that the celebration is a constant reminder that children must be assured of their utmost welfare and well-being anytime of the year.

The administrator also said that children need to exercise their basic rights and that the society must respect and promote it.

He said the Braganza administration will continue to provide quality education and all the important assistance essential to the city’s children and youth.

Panabang pointed out that the city government has conceived and launched few years ago the Bright Child Program aimed at developing the Alaminian Children to become healthy, morally upright, intelligent and responsible citizens of the city.

Also, part of the major thrusts of the current administration is on training unemployed professional educators as day care teachers.

This will augment their family income while serving as a refresher course and at the same time as a stepping stone in landing on better teaching jobs in the future.

The city government is also set to construct or establish more day care centers in the barangays to cater to the growing number of children who are very eager to go to school this early.

In parting, the administrator reiterated the mayor’s call for all the day care teachers and parents to observe the rights of the children and help them achieve their full potentials.

Highlighting this year’s celebration is a mini-sports fest to underscore the importance of fun-filled activities for a more active, friendly and healthy day care children.

The National Children’s Month Celebration is being observed every year during the month of October in recognition of the key role being played by children in nation building as explicitly stated on Proclamation.

DILG Memo Circular 2006-61 likewise mandates local government units in all levels to conduct activities in observance of the Children''s Month. (CIO)
