Fake gold bar swindlers fall

Joint elements of PNP Regional Intelligence Office, CIDG, Provincial PNP, 106th PMG, city PNP and POSO nabbed two suspected swindlers of fake gold bars in an entrapment operation in the city the other day. P/Supt Tito Dacpano, City Chief of Police, identified the suspects as Danny D. Palaganas and Lorenzo D. Laranang, residents respectively of barangays Damortis and Tubod, Sto.Tomas, La Union.

The suspects including the two recovered fake gold and P 5,000 mark money used were presented to Alaminos City Mayor Hernani A. Braganza at the City PNP and 106th PNP Mobile Group compound.

Mayor Braganza lauded the city's lawmen and the composite team for their recent accomplishment and for their dedication, commitment and support to his administrations peace and order thrust and all out-war against crimes. He also cited the courage of Jimmy La Torre, who was victimized by the suspects last month, for coming out to report the incident and sought help from the authorities.

The Mayor even thanked the concerned citizens for having tipped-off to the city PNP another scheduled illegal trade and for being always vigilant.

"We will continue to be on guard, with the help of our lawmen and city residents, we will purge the city from all forms of criminality and make Alaminos the best and safest place to live in, "the Mayor added.

The suspects were on the middle of a transaction with an asset involving the sale of "gold bars" that look like a brass when they were they were cornered by the operatives in front of the Five Star Bus Terminal here.The Alaminos City PNP is currently coordinating with other local police stations to verify reports of apparent wide-scale fake gold bar swindling in the province.
