Massive infrastructure development starts
Date: April 8, 2010

The blessing of the P 50M worth of new heavy equipment recently signals the start of the anticipated infrastructure binge in the city.

"This is expected to speed up the construction of all important and major infrastructure projects in the barangays," said Mayor Hernani A. Braganza of the brand new heavy equipment during the celebration of the 9th city charter anniversary.

The new set of heavy equipment is comprised of three (3) dump trucks (10-wheeler), two (2) dump trucks (6-wheeler),one (1) excavator, one (1) motor grader, and one (1) pay loader.

In the face of negativity perpetrated by our critics and rivals in politics, we now have this new set of heavy equipment,” said the mayor. "Let them know that if we plan or dream big for our city, we ensure that it is doable and we will realize it.”

“I thank the city council headed Vice Mayor Teofilo G. Humilde Jr. for giving me the authority to borrow money from the Landbank,” he added.

Braganza noted that the city government acquired said heavy equipment for the massive infrastructure development in the city.

The city-owned equipment will be used basically for 'public works' in the city’s 39 barangays.

This include the construction, improvement, rehabilitation, repair or restoration of farm-to-market roads, bridges and other important facilities like government buildings, irrigation, flood control and drainage, opening of new road networks and other related construction projects of the city government.

It will also expedite repair of schools, gyms and rehabilitation of houses and barangay centers damaged by typhoons and in distribution of relief goods to affected barangay in times of calamities.

The engineering equipment will likewise help facilitate the construction of the four landmark projects namely the Alaminos Airport Development Project, Hundred Islands Medical Services Complex, PSU-Alaminos City Campus and the Hundred Islands Hotel.

“The Braganza administration is not only after putting up all these gigantic projects but wants them done early for the benefit of the city residents and in order to sustain the city’s economic development,” said city administrator Wilmer Panabang.

“(With this equipment) the city government stands to save millions since we will no longer need to rent costly equipment from private entities,” he added.

“The money that we saved will be used to fund other projects of the city for the Alaminian families.”

Members of the Liga ng mga Barangay, headed by its president- city councilor Helen Bumagat, hailed the Braganza administration for this timely and laudable initiative.

“Now that the city has its own heavy equipment, our barangay officials can now easily request for it to hasten the implementation of vital infra-projects in our communities,” said Bumagat.

Braganza once said that his citymates should be ready to face the challenges of a new Alaminos and embrace fully the development that is already happening in the city.

The visionary mayor had been very optimistic that Alaminos will continue to soar high in all spheres of city’s development knowing that his citymates are behind him and his programs that continue to improve Alaminians’ standard of living. (CIO)
